Values & Aims

School Values

Mercy

  • Catherine McAuley: “There are things that the poor prize more highly than gold, tho’ they cost the donor nothing; among these are the kind work, the gentle, compassionate look, and the patient hearing of their sorrows.”

  • “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.” Romans 12: 15

  • We believe in God’s mercy and compassion toward each person, and in God’s presence in each of us.

Respect

  • Catherine McAuley: “Be ever ready to praise, to encourage, to stimulate, but slow to censure, and still more slow to condemn.”

  • “Be ready to do good at every opportunity, to be courteous and always polite to all kinds of people” Titus 3:2

  • We believe in God’s love for us, and in our need to demonstrate that belief by our love and respect for others through our thoughts, words and actions.

Dignity

  • Catherine McAuley: “It is not sufficient that Jesus Christ be formed in us – he must be recognized in our conduct.”

  • “So always treat others as you would like them to treat you.” Matthew 7:12

  • We believe that each person is created by God, and is to be respected as unique.  Each of us are precious in God’s eyes.

Excellence

  • Catherine McAuley: “Perfection does not consist in performing extraordinary action, but rather in performing extraordinarily well the ordinary actions of everyday

  • “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward.”  Colossians 3:23

  • We believe in creating a school which provides an education that will enable each to always do their best – to become the person they were created to be.

Courage

  • Catherine McAuley: “If we are humble and sincere, God will finish in us the work He has begun. He never refuses His grace to those who ask it.”

  • “Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

  • We believe that each person has been gifted by God, and when we call for God’s help, God will not leave our thoughts and decision making.

Hope

  • Catherine McAuley: “How quietly the great God does all His mighty works! Darkness is spread over us, and light breaks in again, and there is no noise of drawing curtains or closing shutters.”

  • “Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:31

  • We believe that the people in our community have the right to a happy and fulfilling life.
